Django comes to town to discover that his brother Steve, accused of robbing a bank, has been lynched. Django believes the real culprit is Sartana and challenges him to a duel. Just in time, he discovers that the author of the crime is an important local figure.

General Miguel Camargo will be appointed governor, and will marry the daughter of his neighbour, a wealthy landowner. However, O'Brien, a trustworthy man from Camargo, is also in love with the young woman.

Django returns home to find out that his father has been killed by local bandits in a business deal gone wrong. He swears revenge, and a mixture of lone gunmen, gang members, and bandits get involved in the search for a pouch of money, missing out on the ill-fated deal.
